The route runs from Bodmin north to Padstow, then turns south-east along the coast and inland to Truro.

The terrain is rolling throughout, with no flat sections of any length. About a quarter of the surface is off road. The line passes through a string of small settlements and becomes more continuous as it closes on Truro.

Worth knowing before you go

Bodmin, Padstow, St Columb Major and Truro are the main resupply points; the stretch between Padstow and St Columb Major is the thinnest for services. The off-road sections are spread across the route rather than concentrated in one place, so surface changes come without much warning. Padstow sits at roughly the halfway point and is a practical overnight stop.
