The first fifth out of Dunkeld is steep, gaining height quickly before the gradient eases through Inchmagrannachan into rolling and then hilly ground.

Worth knowing before you go

Dunkeld and Birnam are the only settlements with any size; between Inchmagrannachan and Butterstone there is a long gap with nothing on the line. The steep early climbing comes before your legs are warm.
